A real treat: chocolate waffles and chocolate ice cream

Chocolate has to be the ultimate indulgence. I might have gone a little overboard with this one, but my husband – the world’s greatest chocoholic – didn’t seem to mind.

The chocolate ice cream is really dreamy, no fake flavourants or colourants. This is the real deal: chocolate and cream. You might want to put a lock on your fridge for this one!

Reasons why you should eat chocolate:

1. Chocolate reduces blood pressure.

2. Chocolate fights off chronic fatigue.

3. Chocolate contains iron.

4. Chocolate impedes cell deterioration and cancer.

5. Chocolate improves blood circulation to the brain.

For the chocolate waffles

2 eggs

125 ml sugar

250 ml milk

30 ml oil

500 ml flour

4 tablespoons cocoa

4 teaspoons baking powder

Pinch of salt

  1. Beat the eggs and the sugar and add half of the milk with the oil.
  2. Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and mix well with the egg mixture.
  3. Add the other half of the milk.
  4. Pour large spoonfuls of dough into your waffle pan and bake until some steam escapes from the machine – it takes around 3 minutes. Your waffles should now be done.

6 tablespoons cocoa

200 g sugar

  2. Remove from heat and add the chocolate until it melted.
  3. Add the milk and vanilla essence.
  4. Chill for 12 hours.
  5. Churn your ice cream according to your machine’s specifications.
