French toast with heart-shaped ham and cheese

You don’t need to wait for Valentine’s Day to let your spouse know that he is the love of your life. It’s the simple things in your day-to-day life, like a heart-shaped piece of ham on their french toast, that speaks a thousand words. A cookie cutter works brilliantly for this.

You can make a really fun breakfast using different shapes on different food (I’m thinking eggs, bread and even flapjacks). Imagine what fun you can have with kids!

4 slices of bread

2 eggs

50 ml milk

Handful of grated cheddar and white cheddar cheese

4 slices of ham

1. Warm up a non-stick pan on a medium heat. Lightly beat the eggs and milk with a dash of salt and pepper in a cup.

2. Pour the egg mixture into a shallow bowl. Quickly dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture, first on the one side and then on the other. Make sure the bread is not soggy.

3. Fry the bread for 2 minutes on one side, flip it over and fry for another 2 minutes on the other side. Repeat process with the remaining 3 slices of bread.

4. Serve hot with grated cheese and ham.
