I’ve been trying different combinations for smoothies lately, and some were more successful than others. I’ve found that bananas are an excellent base for a smoothie recipe – it allows for a lovely texture and pairs very well with caramel and chocolate. And dates and coffee.
This date and banana smoothie, with a hint of coffee, is quite rich and gives an excellent boost when most needed on those I-don’t-wanna-go-to-work mornings. I’m not able to guarantee less frustration, but staying awake will be a whole lot easier. 😉
4 chopped bananas
250 ml milk
125 ml plain yogurt
12 pitted dates
2 teaspoons instant coffee
1. Freeze the bananas for a few hours.
2. Add the frozen bananas, yogurt, dates, coffee and milk and whiz it up in a blender for a few minutes.
3. Serve ice cold.
