Lemon granita

I found this cool haiku by Michael J Falotico the other day:

A lemon tree is

where I sit to ponder life

as drops of juice fall.

Ahhh, lemons… This lemon granita would make for a refreshing dessert, but I served it as a palate cleanser at a dinner party we had a while ago. It worked extremely well to purify the taste buds of loads of garlic and onion. Although this granita is quite sour, children absolutely love it. Maybe it reminds them of sour worms?

Recipe from Yuppiechef

Zest of 2 lemons

500 ml water

250 ml sugar

Juice of 2 lemons

250 ml sparkling water

  1. Mix together the lemon zest, water and sugar and bring to a boil. Set aside to cool.
  2. Add the lemon juice and sparkling water to the syrup.
  3. Churn your granita according to your ice cream machine’s specifications.
