It was yesterday around 12:30 when we felt the tremor. According to sources it was a 5.5 on the Richter scale. I was sitting at my desk on the 15th floor, my heart pounding in my chest, when we were told to evacuate. This is not something I want to experience again. Nobody I know was injured and it seems that no real damage was done. But still, the helplessness – not loving it.
After a day of adrenaline pumping through your veins (not in a good way), cooking is not really very high on the list of priorities. But eating like a king is. I opted for sandwiches so comforting you’ll want to exchange your favourite soft toy for one. Pastrami, brie, syrupy green figs. On a baguette. Ya feel me?
1 long French baguette
Handful of lettuce
4 slices pastrami
Few slices of brie
Few slices of preserved figs
- Cut the baguette in half and then cut each half open.
- Butter the bread and lay lettuce on the bottom of the sandwich.
- Place to slices of pastrami on each sandwich and top with brie and figs.
- Serve with a hot cup of tea.
