Take five: Electric kettles

The past weekend my hubby and I had a little breakaway with a couple of friends at a nature reserve not far from where we stay. It was so much fun (I haven’t laughed that much in years!) and I ate my weight in biltong, bruschetta and snoek pâté. The little chalet was cosy with a fireplace and a big dining room table where we played Scrabble and Uno around-the-clock.

But every time anyone wanted a cup of coffee I made myself scarce. You see, the electric kettle had a tiny hole in it. I was so afraid of pouring water in the kettle in case it came into contact with an electric wire – the Bride of Frankenstein-look won’t suit me very well.
