Carb-loving blogger, queen of baking and mother to the most beautiful little girl, Stephanie Wise of Girl Vs Dough will brighten up your day with high-class recipes and gorgeous photos thereof. She has been blogging since 2009, so prepare yourself for a recipe index of note.

Stephanie has a few baking tips and tricks to share and an e-cookbook, Quick Bread Love, in order to turn you into the best baker you can be. Be inspired by her joie de vivre and adventures in her Minnesota kitchen.

Explain your blog in three words: Welcoming, inspiring, carbs.

What’s your favourite savoury ingredient to cook with? Salt. It brings out the flavor of everything and I couldn’t live without it. I’m currently obsessed with putting it on watermelon for that sweet-salty thing.

What’s your favourite sweet ingredient to cook with? Chocolate. Especially when it is paired with peanut butter. In a brownie. Or a cookie. Or both (OMG, chocolate peanut butter brownie cookies, CAN YOU EVEN?).

What’s your favourite kitchen tool? My KitchenAid stand mixer. I use it every day for kneading dough, shredding chicken, whipping cream, etc. etc. It’s so versatile!

Who is your culinary icon? I’m a very big fan of food memoirs and my favorite writer is Ruth Reichl. But as far as cooking and baking goes, I have to give all my love to the great Ina Garten. That woman knows her way around a kitchen.

What is your favourite recipe book? I always find myself drawn to the “Smitten Kitchen Cookbook” time and time again. Her recipe for mini meatloaves on brown butter mashed potatoes is everything.

What meal or snack is your guilty pleasure? I already mentioned my love of chocolate and peanut butter, right? I also love almost any and all cheeses. If not restrained, I could probably eat an entire wheel of cheese.

What dish do you want to master but can’t seem to get right? Ummm this is embarrassing, but I have yet to make a really great homemade macaroni and cheese. It’s either too soupy or too congealed and I just can’t get it right. One day!

What was last night’s dinner? Oh, um, Thai takeout. Best food blogger ever, I know. But the night before we had ravioli with homemade roasted red pepper sauce, so that makes up for it, right?

What’s your secret talent? I do a pretty spot-on impression of Short Round from Indiana Jones. Don’t ask me how I know that.
